Supervision plan
The documented plan setting lifeguard numbers, positions, zones and rotations for each pool at each bather load.
Bather load
The number of people in a pool at a given time, used to set supervision levels and water treatment demand.
Free chlorine
The chlorine in pool water that is available to disinfect, tested every two hours and kept within the guideline range.
Pre-exercise screening
The staged questionnaire and measures completed before a person starts exercise to identify health risks and the need for medical clearance.
Scope of practice
The activities an instructor, coach or leader is qualified and permitted to perform, beyond which they must refer to another professional.
Working with Children Check
The Victorian screening check that a person must hold and have verified before working or volunteering with children.
Trip intentions
The approved trip plan held at the base recording the route, group, leaders, timings and the overdue time for an outdoor journey.
Overdue protocol
The steps the base follows when a group has not checked in or returned by the time on the trip plan.
Reportable conduct scheme
The Victorian scheme under which organisations must report allegations of certain conduct by workers or volunteers toward children to the regulator.
Foundation level participant
A beginner in a sport who is learning the basic skills and rules, usually a child or new adult participant.
