Run the plant room checks and correct the hydrotherapy pool
You are a facilities and plant operator trainee at the leisure centre.
What has happened
The hydrotherapy pool has read low free chlorine on two mornings this week and the dosing pump is on the Facilities Coordinator's watch list. Last week a hypochlorite delivery hose was found still connected to the fill point. The council environmental health officer is inspecting the aquatic facility on 1 October and will want to see the log, the corrective actions and the calibration records. You are in the plant room with Dev Chandra from 6 am on Monday. The pools open at 5:30 am for the 50 metre pool and 7 am for the hydrotherapy pool, and the aqua aerobics for older adults class is at 10 am.
Deliverables
- Plant readings record for the shift
- Pool water quality log entries for all four pools including the corrective action and re-test
- Equipment and maintenance register update for the dosing pump

Evidence guide
Check that every pool was tested before opening with complete log entries, that the low result triggered a re-test within fifteen minutes and notification of both people named in the procedure, and that the open or close decision is justified against the guideline ranges. Observe correct PPE and chemical handling in the plant room. The register update and the inspection note must be specific.
