Facility Maintenance and Equipment Plan
v1.9
Purpose. This plan sets out the preventive maintenance, inspection, cleaning and equipment replacement program for the three Summit sites for the year, and how faults and acquisitions are prioritised.
1.Scope and objectives
The plan covers buildings, pool plant, gym and sports equipment, outdoor equipment, vehicles, emergency equipment and grounds at all three sites. Its objectives are no equipment-related injuries, preventive maintenance completed on time, water quality within range and equipment replaced before it becomes unsafe.
2.Inspection schedule
Gym equipment is checked daily by fitness staff and serviced quarterly by the contractor. Pool plant is checked every shift and serviced to the manufacturer's schedule. Outdoor equipment such as ropes, harnesses, helmets, canoes and personal flotation devices is inspected before every use and formally inspected and logged every three months, with ropes and harnesses retired at the manufacturer's life. Emergency equipment is checked daily at the aquatic centre and weekly elsewhere.
- Daily: gym equipment, rescue and first aid equipment, defibrillator
- Each shift: pool plant readings and chemical levels
- Weekly: spill kits, emergency showers, stadium surfaces
- Quarterly: outdoor equipment formal inspection, gym equipment service
- Annually: building services, fire systems, playground and grounds
3.Fault reporting and tagging
Any fault will be reported in the equipment and maintenance register on the day it is found. Equipment that is unsafe will be tagged out of service immediately and not used until repaired and cleared. Faults affecting safety are priority one and actioned within 24 hours.
4.Cleaning and hygiene
Cleaning schedules for change rooms, decks, gym floor, stadium and the Outdoor Base are held with the plan and signed off each shift. Hygiene audits are completed monthly and results reported to the safety committee.
5.Contractors
Contractors will be inducted, will hold the licences and insurance their work requires and will work to a permit where the work involves the plant room, heights, electrical or hot work. Contractor performance is reviewed annually.
6.Equipment acquisition
Equipment replacement and acquisition requests will be assessed on safety, condition, usage, participant demand and cost, and prioritised in the annual budget. Safety-driven replacements are funded first.
7.Review
The plan is reviewed quarterly against completion rates, faults and incidents and updated annually with the budget.
