Plan and instruct the Monday 6 am Strength 45 class
You are a group fitness instructor at the Summit Leisure Centre.
What has happened
Twenty-two members are booked for the Monday 6 am Strength 45 class in Studio 1, including Karen Fitzgerald, aged 64 and new to strength work, and several regulars who like to lift heavy. A member became dizzy on a treadmill two weeks ago, the cable crossover on the gym floor is tagged out, and a plate left on the floor caused a near miss last week. The class uses barbells, plates, dumbbells and steps. Jake Thornton wants a plan with options for every level and clear safety points, and he wants you to know exactly what the emergency response procedure requires if a participant collapses mid-class.
Deliverables
- Completed class plan with regressions, progressions and safety points
- Screening confirmation for booked participants
- Class review and programs and bookings entry

Evidence guide
The plan must show anatomical reasoning for the exercise selection, real regressions and progressions and specific safety points. Observe the class for demonstrations, cueing, technique correction, load guidance for Karen and supervision of the whole room. The screening check must be done before the class. The emergency walk-through must match the procedure step by step.
